The Library has a new, general health database, Health and Wellness Resource Center. This is a database aimed towards non-health professionals and includes quick searches for drugs and medical conditions as well as journal articles and videos.
It is replacing History Resource Center U.S., which will no longer be available starting late September. Almost all the information in History Resource Center is covered in other databases.

Like many of you, the Library Blog will be taking a vacation for the summer. We may put up an occasional post, but the bloggers will mostly be enjoying the sun (if it ever shows up).
Have a good summer!

Instead of the usual Book of the Quarter, the Library will be one of the sponsors of a Book of the Year program during the next academic year. The featured title is Three Cups of Tea by Greg Mortenson. It’s the true story of a man who unsuccessfully attempts to climb K2, but vows to build a school because of his gratitude to the villagers who nursed him back to health.
Watch throughout next year for programs related to this book. If you’d like to get a head start on reading it, the library has several copies available.

Just a head’s up that the Library web site will have a different look starting Summer Quarter 2008. The color and design scheme will more closely resemble the main EvCC page.

It’s now easier than ever to borrow a book not owned by the EvCC Library:
1) Go to OCLC WorldCat/Wayfinder
2) Search for a book by title, author, keyword, or subject.
3) Click on the book’s title to see the full record.
4) Click on the icon about a third of the way down the page that says ILL, which stands for Interlibrary Loan. (If the icon is not visible, the item is not available for Interlibary loan, possibly because it is a magazine or video/audio item or we already own a copy of it.)
5) Fill out the form with your information.
6) The library will contact you when your book is ready to be picked up at the check-out desk.
Please note this service is only available to current EvCC students/employees. While the service is free to users, you will be limited to 5 pending requests at a time and will be responsible for any charges from the lending library for late, lost, or damaged items.

The Career Collection includes books on specific careers and fields, test prep books, and resume/cover letter/interviewing guides. They are all included in our online catalog.
